We offer several facials that can nurture and purify your skin, serviced by experienced and knowledgeable estheticians. Facials clean, nurture, and exfoliate the skin, which promotes a clear, well-hydrated and younger looking complexion.
Your facial will begin with a cleansing to prepare your skin. If you have makeup on, the esthetician will gently remove it at this point.
After the cleansing, your eyes will be covered with dampened pads and the esthetician will examine your skin under a lighted magnifying glass. Your skin type will be identified (i.e. dry, oily, combination, sensitive etc.) and what conditions need treating, such as acne, blackheads or aging. The esthetician will then determine what products would work best for your situation and make a recommendation about how to proceed forward.
The skin is moistened and relaxed using steam, which allows for easier extraction of blackheads and whiteheads. Patients with sensitive skin may need to avoid steam to prevent discomfort.
LAMC offers multiple exfoliation options which remove dead cells and rejuvenate the skin, including:
Mechanical exfoliation uses an abrasive cloth, pumice or sponge to rub away dead skin cells. This is typically done during the steaming process.
Chemical exfoliation uses acids or enzymes to loosen the dead skin cells, which are then wiped away. This process is also typically carried out when steam is applied.
This is the removal of blackheads or whiteheads. People have different pain tolerances for extractions. These treatments can be uncomfortable, especially on thin or rosy skin. Extractions may cause broken capillaries and discoloration if done improperly, so special precaution is taken when preparing for the procedure.
Facial massage and mask
The esthetician will massage your face to relax your skin further before applying a facial mask specific to your skin type.
Your esthetician will remove the mask for you and apply any toner, moisturizer or sunscreen that is appropriate for you at that time. You will also receive advice for how to treat your skin moving forward, including product recommendations and healthy habits to follow.
